Heather Becker

Heather is originally from Mechanicsville, Virginia, and a proud graduate of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she double majored in Church Music and Vocal Performance. She then came to Fort Worth in 2014 to pursue a music degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She completed her Master of Music in Church Music with a Vocal Performance Concentration in 2017, and also a Master of Arts in Christian Education in 2020. Gambrell Street was the first and only church she visited in Fort Worth, where she quickly found herself in the position of Music Intern. She now serves as the J.O.Y (Just Older Youth) Choir director and Children’s Choir director.

Heather believes that God has given everyone a unique voice to use to praise Him, and that everyone can sing. She wants to help teach others how to use their voice to make the most beautiful sound they can, for His glory, and to that end, has taught private voice lessons to beginners, in addition to the group instruction she gives to her choirs. While primarily a senior adult choir, JOY Choir is open to adults of all ages and ability levels. If you love to make a joyful noise to the Lord and would like to do so with fellow believers in a relaxed choir setting, we would love to have you!

Heather is married to Mark and they have two small daughters whom you will likely see, and occasionally, hear, in corporate worship services, as well as JOY Choir rehearsals. If you would like more information on JOY Choir, or how you or your children can learn to make an even-more-beautiful noise to the Lord, please contact Heather at heatherbecker118@gmail.com.
