Our Story

The church began on November 14, 1915, as Seminary Hill Baptist Church, and from that day forward has sought to love God and to love people.  Are you looking for a church where your whole family can learn more about the Lord?  Gambrell Street Baptist Church is a teaching church with lots of friendly people and great teachers.  Our worship services are traditional and authentic.  Members are an important part of our worship.  They participate in choirs, singing from hymnals, reading scripture, and praying.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, the right hand of the throne of God."  Hebrews 12:1-2

Our Ministries

No matter your stage or season of life, we want you and your family to join us!  Your family is always welcome here at Gambrell.

Children - The Nursery IS OPEN

Helping Children Learn to follow Jesus

Gambrell Street Baptist Church is dedicated to sharing God's love with children and their families.  We offer support to our parents as they teach their children to love and serve Jesus every day.

We provide a secure and safe environment for children as they experience different ways to connect with God.  We hope you and your family will consider becoming a part of our church family.

Jesus said,

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."  Matthew 19:14

Sunday Morning schedule

Sunday School at 9:15 am

Preschoolers and elementary age kids learn about God's Word and build relationships during Sunday School.  Excellent teachers make learning Bible stories fun and interesting.

Children meet together in small groups with friends their own age.

Worship at 10:30 am

We encourage families to worship together.  We want you, the parent, to be the one to introduce your child to worship.

We do offer a second hour of teaching for children from birth through kindergarten during the worship service.  During this time, the little ones sing, hear a Bible story, share fun activities, and play together.

Wednesday evening schedule

5:00 pm Family Fellowship Meal for the entire family

6:00 pm KidSing: During KidSing, preschoolers (3 years old to kindergarten age) and elementary age children (grades 1-6) meet separately as they learn and worship in a fun environment.  Not only do they enjoy singing, but they also incorporate exploring musical instruments and other avenues of creative worship.

6:45 pm KidServe: During KidServe, our preschoolers, boys in grades 1-6, and girls in grades 1-6 meet separately and enjoy mission activities. They learn to have a serving heart by doing things to help others.
